Access to the content is the final step in an archival media chain that starts with the digitization of the physical media carrier. The improvement of the whole chain requires advanced process automation. But the increase of efficiency through automation is only possible up to a certain degree. Contemporary systems use browser-based workflow control systems that support each individual archiving step from ingest, quality analysis, metadata enrichment to long-term storage migration and supervision. Integration of human interaction is a new challenge for technology development. Different views on relevant information via dashboards and individual decision support systems are the key to support each member within an archiving work group. Existing solutions will be presented.
