DAVID - Digital AV Me dia Damage Prevention and Repair (European Research Project)
Cube-Tec will be presenting exciting results from the developments within the European research project DAVID. This includes new automatic MXF File quality control and MXF File repair as well as new results in workflow decision automation based on dynamic risk evaluations. How to keep audiovisual content usable over time? For digital audiovisual media DAVID have analyzed the origin of potential damage, have developed new technologies to restore damage already happened and is developing new strategies for avoiding future damage in a way that balances long-term costs, risks of loss, and content quality. The DAVID project target digital video tape, which for many remains the de-facto form of born-digital content, as well as the rapid adoption of audiovisual as files in IT systems. The main focus of the DAVID projects is: file-based quality management, smart automatic MXF file repair, workflow process automation.
CubeWorkflow – for Agile Media Teams
CubeWorkflow 2.0 is a lightweight Business Process Management (BPM) workgroup solution optimized for media centric organizations seeking to improve efficiency and quality control. CubeWorkflow is based on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). It uses BPMN to graphically model Business Processes and allow the orchestration and execution of these BPMN processes on a distributed server farm. External media processes can be integrated via standardized web services. CubeWorkflow is completely designed on advanced Web technologies and is easy to use within private clouds on premises as well as in hybrid and public Internet cloud stacks. All standard graphical user-interfaces are web browser-based. CubeWorkflow allows performing of media validation processes (quality control QC) and automatic file-based repair in large-scale media collections. Within the DAVID integrated prototype tools and services the CubeWorkflow 2.0 framework will function as prototype integrator technology for FIMS services, Format Compatibility tools integration and testing. It is already in daily with several customers e.g. for the ORF MXF D-10 Repair Service.
