The Saudi Center for Digital Content
The Saudi Center for Digital Content (SCDC المركز السعودي للمحتوى الرقمي) is a Saudi Arabian government's reference and training center. The aim of the SCDC is to teach the profession of audiovisual migration at the highest international quality standards. SCDC is supposed to support Saudi archives in their digitization and media unlocking journey. The SCDC is funded directly by the King Abdulaziz Foundation in Darah.
NextArchive managed the project, supplied all hardware and software and conducted all on-site training for the SCDC team in Saudi Arabia. Cube-Tec delivered and set up the quality-controlled migration solution for the high-volume digitization.
The installation and trainings were successfully completed at the end of 2023.
The SCDC project includes:
- All the hardware and software for the Video- and Audio labs and the quality control room
- QUADRIGA•Video and QUADRIGA•Audio ingest systems and a fully integrated QC workflow
- Onsite setup of the installations in various rooms
- Training sessions: material handling, cleaning and baking, ingest, QC, workflow (the complete process from a-z)
- Warranty and technical support for 3 years
NextArchive did the complete onsite installation at SCDC in Riad. Also, the extended trainings were held locally in combination with remote trainings by Cube-Tec.
To summarize:
This all-inclusive project delivered the setup of 'Instructor Training Programs' for national authorities directly with the complete provision of all the necessary equipment for the required preparation and archive media digitization work in a quality controlled and highly optimized workflow.
This is an excellent role model for many other projects around the globe to provide urgently-needed audiovisual preservation and access done in a reliable and cost-effective manner within a short timeframe.
