The evaluation of problems that are related to not fully standard compliant MXF files can become very complex and time consuming. This work regularly requires the attendance of special in-house experts. ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion was looking for an intelligent tool to reduce the effort needed to achieve reliable interoperability. The ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion QC team tested the MXF Legalizer for several weeks with their collection of troublemaker files. Cube-Tec's MXF Legalizer is designed to solve interoperability problems with MXF containers and related bitstream issues by reformatting the MXF file to standard conformity. While extensive MXF expert’s knowledge is used inside of MXF Legalizer, the user interface is kept straightforward. In contrast to standard Transcoder Farm products MXF Legalizer does not re-encode the video essence. This avoids any deterioration of the media quality. The video essence remains complete untouched. With MXF Legalizer MXF files can be made fully interoperable in an automated high-speed process. When the MXF Legalizer conversion process is completed all output files obtain a homogeneous structure conforming in all details to the agreed standard compliant MXF flavor.

The diversity of reasons for interoperability problems in MXF files is vast. Production houses are often not aware that even small changes in their internal production process may change the internal structure of MXF files significantly. These variants can drive a broadcaster into major difficulties when they have to guarantee flawless operation. Novel tools such as MXF Legalizer help to solve these problems effectively. They enable cost savings and ensure streamlined processes.
