[...] Through the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, to be celebrated annually on 27 October, UNESCO will draw attention to the vulnerability of audiovisual carriers and to the need for urgent measures to ensure that the world's documentary heritage which belongs to all, is preserved, protected and made permanently accessible.
