Cube-Tec is proud to present its latest product: Cube-Tec UpMix, a surround upmix module that is capable of expanding stereo or even mono sources to 5.1 surround sound.

Not being built around artificial reverberation, the algorithm analyses the existing source material and expands the contained ambience information into the surround sound field. The result is a very natural, homogeneous 5.1 sound, preserving the 'intention' of the original recording.

Cube-Tec UpMix is available for Cube-Tecs AudioCube and DOBBIN systems, offering both flexible real-time processing with the AudioCube VPI (Virtual Precision Instrument), or cost-effective mass processing with theDOBBIN FPU (File Processing Unit).

The algorithm was developed in close cooperation with the surround sound engineers of the Hamburg based Mastering & Surround Factory, who are the first to run the Cube-Tec UpMix VPI on their AudioCube 6 system. A growing number of DVD titles has already been produced there, including releases by Sammy Davis Jr., Leonard Cohen, Birth Control, Dubliners, Rattles and James Last to name but a few.
