MasterMix Installs 3 Cube-Tec AudioCubes
MasterMix, one of Nashville's premier mastering facilities, has taken delivery of three Cube-Tec AudioCube mastering systems.
The 3 dual 2.8GHz Xeon processor based AudioCube systems are fitted with a full compliment of hardware including CD & DVD burners and Mykerinos 24 channel audio cards. On the software side, each is configured with Steinberg Wavelab 5 & Nuendo 3 editors, NetSupport remote help software, and a wide variety of Cube-Tec Mastering & Restoration VPI's (plugins). The two main mastering rooms at MasterMix are home to Hank Williams and Ken Love, who have begun using their 'Cubes on a daily basis for stereo projects. The third system is in use on a variety of 5.1 projects for DVD-V release, and serves as a restoration tool used by Kaiser.
These systems will be used in the two main stereo mastering suites, the 5.1 mastering suite, and for audio restoration. This addition follows months of careful evaluation of the various options in the digital workstation arena. "To have software solutions of this resolution along with MasterMix's analog chain is nothing short of amazing. Sascom's support has been exceptional as well.
- Hank Williams, Principal Mastering Engineer
We considered all of the high-end mastering systems, and liked much about each of them. However, the AudioCube was far superior in terms of signal-processing power, with over 40 different stereo and multi-channel mastering and restoration tools available. We had a demo system here for several weeks, and couldn't imagine working without it.
- Jim Kaiser, Director of Technology
64-bit floating-point precision and high sample rates give the system a nearly analog audio resolution without the noise. Combine that with extremely flexible tools and I now have a palette of options which let me experiment and stretch the envelope in a way that I never could before. I also love the fact that the AudioCube is PC-based. This gives me all of the file flexibility and project version control I expect, plus superior and always improving hardware.
