Large-Scale QUADRIGA•Video installation for The MediaPreserve
The MediaPreserve has decided to go for QUADRIGA•Video, the most advanced video tape migration solution available today. The company is running the audiovisual preservation business of Preservation Technologies. With its head offices near Pittsburgh, The MediaPreserve is one of the leading media migration service providers in North America.
The MediaPreserve had ordered their QUADRIGA•Video System by the end of 2018. In January 2019 they were able to go into production with 8 VTR players in parallel on two QUADRIGA stations ...and the next expansion stage is already in planning. The initial system setup is used to transfer a huge collection of Betacam SP cassettes for a major broadcasting partner.
QUADRIGA•Video performs quality-control analysis while capturing 4 independent streams of video in parallel, including audio via the SDI interface. If a migration file requires an in-deep second check, the QUADRIGA•QC View provides the user interface to play video and synchronize all extracted metadata streams for quality analysis.
Depending on the customer requirements, QUADRIGA•Video delivers standard compliant, MXF wrapped uncompressed video with full 10 bit image resolution, V210 QT Master as well as JPEG 2000 mathematically lossless. Also mezzanine and broadcast production video formats typically required in NTSC or PAL are available. For streaming and preview via network, proxy formats are generated on the fly as part of the client specific workflow.
QUADRIGA•Video provides a rich support of all major Closed Captions and Subtitles formats.
To deal most efficiently with the different types of legacy video formats, The MediaPreserve has developed two types of studios: multiple ingest studios for cassette-based media and specialized studios for fragile or difficult legacy formats. The multiple ingest rooms were designed to accommodate large collections of common analog formats. In addition to providing accurate and efficient transfer through multiple ingest, The MediaPreserve offers studios for the careful transfer of difficult or unusual formats. These studios are devoted to items that require special handling, including artistic content and/or content found on difficult or fragile media.
The MediaPreserve has been working in the audiovisual preservation business since 2007.
